1. Books I’m Reading in 2013: #4 - Titan’s Curse, Rick Riordan.
So I’m past the middle point of the series now! Not too much new to say about this one. The new additions to the cast worked really well - especially the female ones. Like I said last time, too, the new “brand” of Greek mythology that Riordan is re-inventing is getting better and better as we meet more gods and creates. As for the actually quality of writing style and the plot issues, not much change sadly. I still think not a whole not actually happened. It was a lot of “SIXTEEN! SIXTEEN! SOMETHING WILL HAPPEN AT SIXTEEN!” and we’ve been hearing this since book one. I’m not a huge fan of books or movies that are a lot of build up and then a five minute epic battle scene. That is boring. But anyways, other than all that, it was nice to see more Grover this time. I’m actually SUPER excited for something to happen with Pan cause I’m more interested in that than this “sixteen” crap. I missed Annabeth this book, though. Boo. I’m glad that (SO FAR) Percy and Annabeth have not been all ~HYFIURELHGJER LOOOOOOOVE~ because YA lit does not need more angsty teen love to steal focus from the actual plot. So anyways, it was good, going to read book 4 now.
My Rating: B+
